While
About three weeks before our whole family went on our annual beach vacation, Emma and Ryan were talking with the boys about how we were all going to be heading to the beach for a week soon. Timmy quickly exclaimed, "I'm so excited! Poppy and Granna are buying a forever house at the beach!" They quickly explained that we were just renting a house for 1 week/7 days and showed him on the calendar to help explain. Very determinedly he responded with, "No! They are buying a forever house at the beach. I know it!!!"
Fast forward one month and God led us to do just that! We had no prior thoughts or plans to buy a house at the beach, but I guess it all started with a dream God put in Timmy's heart and then he spoke it out and here we are living the dream!
"The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the purposes of His heart to all generations." Psalm 33:11
Tim's mom's name was Ivy, and his dads was Neil. It was such a wonderful blessing to find out that Kathleen was naming her daughter Ivy and Emma was naming her daughter Neily. Now Neil and Ivy could be together again! And boy are they! They live right next door from one another and would love nothing more than spending every moment of every day together!
Ivy is a few months older and is spunky, energetic and outgoing. Neily is a bit more reserved and laid back. Most days you'll find Neily in a princess dress with cowboy boots and a ribbon in her hair, while Ivy looks like a tornado hit her with her disheveled hair and dirt-stained play clothes.
One day while jumping on the trampoline with both girls, Emma suggested they sing a song. Neily quietly started singing her ABC's and then Ivy shouted the lyrics perfectly to "This Girl is on Fire." No doubt these two will be best friends for life!

Tim and I were in the middle of making the very tough decision about whether to move my mom and Bob in with us in Lexington. They were two of the most difficult people to live with, but Tim and I were willing to follow God if that was what He wanted. I went up for a weekend to spend with them, talking about all the particulars. I cried out to God for a confirming word as I was there. I spent that Saturday with Maddy, who was 5 years old at the time. I picked her up as we crossed a street and she started patting my back as she sweetly announced, "Granna,we will take really good care of you." I was astonished at such compassionate and mature words. I knew they were a confirmation that we were indeed to open our home and heart to Mom & Bob and a great comfort that God had already put it in this precious child's heart to care for us in our old age. I'll be reminding Maddy of that in years to come! LOL
"Children are a heritage of the Lord, and the fruit of the womb is His reward." Psalms 127:3
Remi was playing outside with Sam and Berkley digging up worms that were buried in the ground under a cover of snow. She came running inside excited to tell Casey, "Mom, we are having a revival! We dig up the dead worms, sing and pray over them and then they come back alive!" Casey didn't have the heart to tell this fearless little leader that they were actually hibernating and probably dying after they were resurrected!
"And the little child shall lead them."
Isaiah 11:6
One weekend, as I was babysitting for Sam and Kathleen, I put the four grandkids in the car, three in the back and the baby in the middle. Next, as I was putting their scooters in the back of the car I heard Paxson screaming, "Stop". When I asked what was going on, Sam, the oldest, yelled above the commotion, "Laken is pinching Paxson." I quickly changed my tone of voice and yelled back, "Laken John, you stop pinching Paxson right this minute!" Thankfully, all got really quiet and we proceeded to the playground. A few minutes down the road Sam says faintly from the back, "Wow, Granna, you sound just like like my mom!" I chuckled as I realized sometimes even grandmas have to get stern.
"Discipline your children and they will
give you peace. " Proverbs 29:17
While babysitting Maddy and Dominic last weekend I went to Dom's school one afternoon to pick him up. He jumped in the back seal, buckled up and excitedly shared that his mommy had gotten him a notebook from Goodwill. He said, "I do my school work in it and write God notes!" I asked him what God notes were and he said, "You know Granna, like you write to God. I can see you love God and I want to too!" Later that night Dom proclaimed, "when I grow up I want to teach children to love Jesus!."
"I pray that you , being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with ll the Lord's holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ." Ephesians 3: 17-18
As I was driving Joe and Timmy in their car I turned the radio on and rock-and-roll came blasting out, so I turned it to a Christian station and Joe says, "Granna, why did you change that? I like that music!" I said, "I know sweetie but I only listen to Jesus music." Joe quickly informed me, "Well we don't have Jesus music in our car." I said, "Oh yes you do!" and then shared a few of my favorites with them.
Joe told his teacher in front of the class that his Granna brought his mommy some panties. His teacher questioned him and asked, "Did you mean she got your mom underwear?" Joe quickly corrected her with, "No, you know the flower, panties!" What he really meant was that I brought her peonies. LOL
"A happy heart is good like medicine."
Proverb 17:22a
As Dom and I were driving in the car, Dom announced from the back seat, “Granna, your car is dirty! You really need to clean it!” I agreed but then asked, “How is it dirty?” He quickly replied, “There is an orange peel and gum wrappers on the floor.” I said, “Yes, I am sure there are, and you know who made that mess?” He said, “No who?” I replied, “My grandkids!” He laughed and then quickly responded, “Good job Granna. You just won the blame game.” Busted! He totally called me out! But it’s true! It is definitely the grandkids who make the most mess, but I love every bit of it!
"Children are a blessing and a gift from the Lord." Psalm 127:3
While babysitting Kathleen's precious kids, the keys to the 4X4 got misplaced. The kids were so disappointed because now we couldn’t go for rides while I was there with them. We searched everywhere, to no avail. The next morning as I gathered the kids together for our devotional time, I shared the story of finding my lost diamond that had fallen out of my wedding ring years ago. Jenny, around 6 years old at the time, came home from Sunday school with a story of a little girl who had lost a special ring her daddy had given her. She prayed and believed the scripture Mark 11:24 “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” She thanked God that He heard her prayer and that she would find it and it turned up the very next day.
Jenny challenged us to do the same. I explained to her that this wasn’t a ring but just the little diamond that fell out and I had no clue when or where it happened. It could be anywhere! It didn’t matter to Jenny how impossible it seemed. She was determined! She wouldn’t let up until we prayed, so we asked God to help us find it and then every day for two weeks we thanked God for helping us find my diamond.
For two long weeks my heart was heavy because I really didn’t believe we would find it and I felt discouraged knowing Jenny’s faith would be crushed. Just as we were about to give up the next morning Sarah, 4 years old at the time, ran downstairs exclaiming that she had a dream that an angel was flying down the stairs with the diamond in its wing. Wow! That was a faith booster for us all, so we kept praying and believing. Everyday Jenny would declare, “Thank you God for finding mommy’s diamond!”
Two days later as I was putting Kelly, now 2 years old, in her car seat I looked and, to my utter amazement, right in the middle of the seat was that little diamond! I screamed for joy, showed the girls the diamond and we all did a hallelujah danced in the yard praising God from the top of our lungs!!!
As I shared with my grandkids this story you could visibly see their excitement and feel their faith rise. We prayed right then and there asking God to help us find those keys. We looked everywhere and even though we didn’t find them we kept thanking God that we would.
The next day as I was tidying up getting ready for Kathleen and Sam to come home, I saw the cushions on the couch needed straightening, so I pulled them off and there was the key right underneath one of the cushions. I quickly yelled to the kids to come and showed them the keys! They were thrilled, jumping up and down for joy. Then we stopped and thanked God for His faithfulness! One of the kids asked, “Where did you find them?” I said, “right under the cushion on the couch” and Laken quickly replied with a mischievous little chuckle, “Ha ha I know, I put them there!”
"You have not because you ask not"
James 4:2
Sailor, our sweet, energetic, & super smart granddaughter, was so excited to talk about heaven and how wonderful it will be. We shared about the streets of gold, all the yummy food at the banquet we will enjoy, and how Jesus is building our mansions. She was especially thrilled to learn that there will be no more tears or suffering and the lion will lay down with the lamb. She quickly exclaimed, "Now I am super happy!" I asked why and she said, "I thought we would
just be laying in bed all day!"

1 Cor. 2:9
One day when babysitting Ivy and Neily at Kathleens big, beautiful house, I needed to gather the girls to go pick up the other kids at school. I called for them and only Ivy came running. I asked her where Neily was, and she said they were playing "hide and seek." We went through the house upstairs and down calling for her, but she didn't make a peep. Finally, she could hear my frantic voice as the time was needed to leave. We heard, "I'm in the closet." We looked and looked and finally found her in the laundry cabinet. She could see I was a bit upset as she quietly said, "Granna, we were playing "hide and seek." I smiled, relieved that we found her, and said, "I know sweetie. Could you
promise next time if you hear me calling you will come right away and when we get back from picking the kids up at school, we can all play "hide and seek." She agreed.
and off we went.
Later that afternoon I was outside taking some things to my car and when I came back inside Neily was yelling for me. I quickly said, "Here I am." She adamantly replied, "Granna, next time when I am calling you, you need to come right away."
